Top 10 Questions on Laser Hair Removal – How it Works

Are you interested in laser hair removal but not entirely sure how it works? We understand the sensitivity around the subject but trust us when we say there isn’t anything we haven’t been asked or seen. Take a look at our frequently asked questions below…we included everything – even those questions that are typically off limits!

Laser Hair Removal – How It Works

1) Can EVERYTHING  be removed?

YES! That’s the beautiful things about our Austin Laser Hair Removal services. We can remove any unwanted hair – from your buttocks to your armpits. The most important factor is that your hair is dark enough for our lasers to see it. If this is the case, we can treat it. Even if you want a small patch of hair we can work around this so all of your hair doesn’t have to be gone.

2) How exposed am I during the treatment?

At Alite Laser, our goal is to make you as comfortable as possible. This means you’re only as exposed to your comfort level. Typically we used drapes to make your treatment modest and only expose the areas as we are individually working on them. Once the area has been treated, we cover you up with the drape so you can continue to feel comfortable.

3) What is the upkeep and maintenance like between treatments?

Once you undergo shedding (the process for when your hair has fallen out) the hair will be gone for about 3-4 weeks. However, about 1-2 weeks before your next scheduled treatment, you’ll notice your hair starting to grow back. This is completely normal. Your hair will be a little thinner than before but it’s okay to shave or trim until your next treatment.

4) I’m menstruating…is it okay to be treated?

Yes. As long as you are using a tampon we can absolutely treat you.

5) Will laser hair removal cause irritation, redness, or itchiness?

It’s not uncommon for a little redness, itchiness, or irritation to occur after your laser hair removal treatment. However, the irritation usually goes away after 24-48 hours.

6) Can men get laser hair removal?

Of course! We have many clients – both male and female – who enjoy the benefits of laser hair removal. We can treat all areas within the bikini area and even on the genitals.

7) Does loss of sensitivity or discoloration ever occur?

Nope! In the years we’ve been in the laser hair removal industry we’ve never had a client report loss of sensitivity or discoloration for laser hair removal.

8) If I book a treatment, how long does it last?

Your typical treatment for a bikini area will take about 30 minutes.

9) Does laser hair removal work on c-section scars?

Our lasers are top-of-the-line and some of the best in the industry. Whether you have hair growing out of c-section or any other nook or cranny on your body, our lasers work on it.

10) What about the beach or the pool…can I enjoy the Summer with laser hair removal?

Absolutely! Chlorine, salt water, and sand won’t affect the area – just don’t forget the sunblock! However, for optimal results, we don’t recommend getting sun exposure. It’s very important that the treated area has little to no sun exposure. Also note that immediately following your treatment the skin could be a little more sensitive to the elements (salt, sand, and chlorine). Overall, we recommend avoiding these until any irritations have gone away. But that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a midnight swim or the hot tub!
