Are you wondering how to make your skin look flawless naturally without makeup? We all have busy lives and sometimes you may feel like your skin is struggling. The good news is that you don’t have to live at the spa, spend money on overly expensive products, or change everything about your beauty routine in order to have a glowing, healthy complexion. We’re here to share some simple secrets to achieving flawless skin.
How to Make Skin Look Flawless
Get that beauty sleep
Just because you’re not a Disney princess doesn’t mean you don’t deserve to get a full nights’ sleep! It can be hard to look and feel refreshed if you’re not getting a full seven hours. A lack of sleep can easily dull your skin, but it can also slow you down mentally! Ensuring you get a full seven hours of sleep at a minimum each night, is a must for keeping your skin looking great!
Use SPF daily
Did you know that 80 percent of visible aging signs are from sun exposure? When you use SPF daily, in your moisturizer or applied separately, it can help block UVB and UVA light. Ensure you’re reapplying throughout the day and using sunscreen year-round. Just because winter brings cold weather and clouds doesn’t mean you’re safe from sun damage!
Take the time for self-care and relax! Continuous tension and stress can cause spikes of cortisol in your body. Cortisol can slowly remove collagen and elastin, which leads to wrinkles. Stress can also worsen certain skin conditions, like psoriasis or rosacea, according to the American Academy of Dermatology.
Using a moisturizer daily is crucial for flawless skin! Using a moisturizer will help retain the skin’s water and help your skin stay strong. Make sure during winter you’re increasing your using moisturizer on your whole body (not just the face!) and in the summer, when humidity is high, you can use it a little less.

Working out regularly not only will help keep you in shape, but it will also help give your skin a nice refreshing glow! You should be exercising at least 45 minutes multiple times per week. Research done by McMaster University in Ontario has shown that previously sedentary subjects who started a regular exercise routine actually experienced a reversal in their skin signs of aging.
Wash your face every morning and night
Sun damage isn’t the only environmental factor you have to worry about: small particles from air pollutants can hurt your skin, too. Play it safe by remembering to take a minute before bed to cleanse your face to remove yucky debris that could be weakening your skin, as well as to take off makeup.
Avoid excess sugar
Sugar can be a great thing when it’s in sugar scrubs. However, if you have a sweet tooth, it could be causing aging. Foods that have high sugar content create high amounts of cortisol which in turn can cause wrinkles. Make sure your diet includes healthy fats, green foods, and vitamin C to help create flawless skin from the inside out!
Be gentle with your skin
Washing your face is a must, but scrubbing it raw can create more harm than good. Using too many skin products or over-exfoliating can lead to microscopic inflammation that can actually cause swelling. This swelling can clog pores and increase blemishes or redness, causing your skin to look less than flawless. Make sure you always treat your skin gently and limit any exfoliation to once a week. Once a week is enough to remove dead skin cells without going overboard.
Don’t pick or pop
Never ever pick or pop blemishes on your skin. This creates permanent scarring and creates problems in the future. Circling back to our last tip, remember to treat your skin gently. If you have a pimple that comes out of nowhere, try steaming them or applying medication (very minimally) to help the pimples disappear.
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again – smoking is not a healthy habit! It not only damages your internal organs, but smoking can destroy your skin. Smoking can cause wrinkles, skin sagging, skin staining, and can also stain your teeth and nails. Plain and simple, smoking does not lead to flawless skin.
Avoid “fad” products and use a skin routine that works for you
Every few years a new “fad” comes around, everyone jumps on board and then switches their routine when the next best thing comes around. If you want to maintain flawless skin, pay attention to the right routine rather than the latest fad product.
